Rapid7's NeXpose Vulnerability Remediation Planning Stands Out for Valdosta State University

Georgia-Based University Implements the Rapid7 NeXpose Appliance and Hosted Services to Optimize Network Security Across its Three Campuses and at the Perimeter

Boston - October 31, 2006 - Rapid7, provider of the award-winning NeXpose vulnerability management solution, today announced that Valdosta State University (VSU) in southern Georgia has purchased the NeXpose Appliance and Hosted Services for securing its campus-wide networks and protecting its perimeter from external threats. During testing of various network scanning solutions, VSU IT security administrators responded enthusiastically to NeXpose and particularly its remediation planning capabilities.

"Our administrators want their systems to be secure, but they don't have the time and the options readily available. The fact they accepted and wanted NeXpose spoke volumes to me," stated William C. Moore, assistant director of information technology, Valdosta State University. "As part of running our security tests, we needed to obtain better remediation guidelines. We were greatly impressed that NeXpose delivers a report with remediation steps that are very simple and tell us precisely what we need to do."

The VSU IT security team endorses NeXpose's overall reporting capabilities, which allow users to obtain vulnerability data in customized formats.

"NeXpose is more comprehensive than products we used prior," stated Moore. "NeXpose findings are all-inclusive and are contained in one report. We previously had to compile multiple reports on our network activity."

VSU appreciates NeXpose's ability to create a unified report, the Executive Summary, which is suitable for presentation to university administration. NeXpose's reporting features will also help VSU to be proactive in addressing IT security.

"NeXpose tells us what the network's status is now, enabling us to reduce our exposure to more acceptable levels," stated Moore. "NeXpose will also help us with heading off potential vulnerabilities and how we manage systems security in the future."
