Rapid7's NeXpose Certified for the Detection of Network Vulnerabilities

NeXpose Receives Premium Checkmark Certification for Detecting 100% of Vulnerabilities in Trials By Leading Independent Testing Organization

Boston - September 6, 2005 - Rapid7 today announces that its enterprise vulnerability management software, NeXpose, was awarded the Premium Checkmark Certification for vulnerability assessment. West Coast Labs, owners of the Checkmark system, found that NeXpose successfully detected 100% of critical vulnerabilities and over 90% of serious vulnerabilities during rigorous trials on the West Coast Labs test network.

The Premium Checkmark Certification is the highest granted by West Coast Labs. It validates NeXpose's proficiency in protecting enterprise network systems from threats resulting from undetected vulnerabilities. By meeting West Coast Labs' stringent criteria for Premium Checkmark Certification, NeXpose demonstrates its strength and value in detecting the vulnerabilities in an organization's computing environment.

"Organizations increasingly need robust and thorough vulnerability assessment and NeXpose's receipt of the Premium Checkmark Certification confirms its performance," said Chris Thomas, operations director, West Coast Labs. "We're pleased to report that NeXpose detected 100% of all vulnerabilities on the West Coast Labs test network for this particular certification."

West Coast Labs is one of the world's leading independent test labs for information security products and services. Its Checkmark certification system is a quality testing and authentication service with established, independent standards on product effectiveness. The findings of West Coast Labs' tests of Rapid7's NeXpose are contained in a Vulnerability Assessment Technology Report published in August 2005, which can be found at www.westcoastlabs.org.

Organizations, including Black & Decker, Trader Joe's, Florida State University, the New York Times, and the City of Philadelphia, continually rely on Rapid7 to mitigate risk and remain compliant. Rapid7 is headquartered in Boston, MA, with an office in Los Angeles, California.
